"Graffiti in the Makin" - ELAmental & Emily Ra from Kin of Merlin

50 Years ago Today (8/11/2023), HIP HOP was Born for and of Spirit, Love, & Community. As we Celebrate this Unique and Honored Anniversary, ELAmental also sought to Commemorate it by living to one of the highest principles of Hip Hop - Manifestation of Creation. He is Humbled to bring you his inclusion on this Day of Legacy.

"Graffiti in the Makin''' highlights the 5 Original Elements (or Pillars) of Hip Hop: Breakin', Emceein', Graffiti, Deejayin', Beat Boxin', & are firmly Present in the chorus. The other 4 Elements of Hip Hop: Street Fashion, Street Language, Street Knowledge, & Street Entrepreneurialism, ... are Affirmed by this Production in various ways including: Honoring some of Hip Hop's True Legends with tasteful & subtle quotes, samples, and references, telling personalized stories relational to an upbringing with the culture of Hip Hop's influence on his Inspiration, paying Tribute to an extinct yet Culturally Significant building on the West Coast Tributing it's Graffiti History, and collaged with a Tribute to Graffiti from a Significant piece of Original Hip Hop Cinematography in the Song Art (this symbolizes the Unification of the East & West Coast through Hip Hop).

ELAmental is also combining the Street Entrepreneurialism aspect which will be demonstrated when some associated merch is rolled out at a date in the not too distant future. Street Fashion is certainly present in the song art as well, but that also will not end there. The 10th Element of Hip Hop, Health and Wellness, is ALLWAYS Present in ELAmental's Music, this Production being no exception.

One of the other Highest Aspirations of a True Emcee is Kinekted Collaborations. As a Spell of a Real Hip Hop Tribute Track... ELAmental felt it Essential to include another Hip Hoppa. Verse 2 fell in the Wings of Emily Ra, who holds the vital role of the Divine Feminine in this Tribute - & shouts out some of the OG Goddess Emcee Pioneers of Hip Hop, both with their monikers, and their ACTUAL shouts (check the song).

ELAmental even took a note from the Tales of Pebblee Poo & The Mercedes Ladies (combined with a push from Dr. Bombay) by writing some of Emily Ra's lines for her verse, which she also finished writing (a True Tribute to this History).

In both of ELAmental's verses, he tells stories of experiences he had as a kid, and the lengths he would go to for finding himself through Hip Hop, in a life where everything would try to steer him away from it... it's just who he was, and who he still is - someone who pushes through the pavement. He also describes being a part of bringing back the Light of Hip Hop, after a 20 year Spell of Darkness - Both ELAmental & Emily Ra reference Times and Artists when the Torch of Real Hip Hop was Burning Brightest, assisting in Ushering in a New Era of this Optimized Resurrection Customized for the Times.

The Song Art is Inspired from an Original Photograph taken by ELAmental of an old milk factory turned Art Collective, & unfortunately was eventually condemned and destroyed. The story of this building and it's Artistic History is described in more detail in this Hive article (link below) - but has an EPIC "fighting fire with fire" Graffiti-wars backstory Unique to Portland, OR.

The Graffiti tag in the street of this Song Art is an animated tribute to the intro of the movie: "Wild Style" - a Classic Hip Hop picture from the 80s, with an ELAmental autograph style "in the Makin'" finish... see if you can find the hidden "majik-eye" style Graffiti hidden Gems in this, and other recent & upcoming song & album art.

Enjoy the FREEDOM of REAL Hip Hop, and Have a Blessed 50th.

Shout out to KRSone in the Bronx - We in the Park in Spirit This Day.

Bless the Method,

Draw the Dream.

LYRICS:

Intro (ELAmental):

Yo I wanted to do a track to tribute the tradition of Hip Hop and its origins, while also commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop itself. I myself was raised as an East Coast Homie, with my Heart All-Ways West
Never lyin, only Lions, Laying facts with Cats...

Verse 1 (ELAmental):

It's really rare and precious what you messing with
That real hip hop shit with no limit, Dream in it
Manifesto presto when the pen rolls off of the page
And phases into the the tongue it ageless

And timeless when when we bless the mic it's priceless
As the wind tones transforms into the chill in your back-bones
Take ya back home, and way back when
Bringing back the old school with a new blend

Hit the send on it, we blast the dope-sonics
And we hooked on harmonics
With the promise of homage, to our own phonics
With the phoenix team lit in it, correspondin the accomplishments

As accomplices, when we congregate
We got that concentrate like a stoner baked
Serve it up on the hot plate, just like some sizzilin' steak
Throwin flames to that higher place, scratch the basics.

Chorus:

Emceein, Deejayin, Beatboxin, & Breakin.... Graffiti in the makin' (x4)

Verse 2 (Emily Ra):

Keep on till the break of dawn - ya don't stop - rock on -
I'll-rocka-shocka round your black yall
One time for your mind Hip Hopaz on the grind for real
In case - you didn't know the deal

It all started with the parties in the parks Kool herc with the spark
Igniting furious art, scratching partnerships
Hip Hop's a Leo, on the 11th we free flow
Comemoratin the key notes, those Hip Hop Heroes:

Let's not forget the Lady Bugs, Lisa Lees, and the bzy beez
Where it all started in the bronx w the beats
Breakin all the deceit
Achieve street culture at peace

Gotta keep installing belief, that we can be this
Bringing the light back in the sequence
Uniting the fiefdoms, initiating 5 pillars of freedom, with no stop
Long Live the Temple of...
HIP HOP!

Chorus:
Emceein, Deejayin, Beatboxin, & Breakin.... Graffiti in the makin' (x4)

Verse 3 (ELAmental):

Seems like only yesterday when I was 6
Playing games on the arcades, Ninja Gaiden
Pulling my parents' Kenwoods outa the basement
Shaking the house when they were away
Just so I could be sayin, the lines from the radio

And Jam Master Jay, runnin DMC fluent
Because this is how we do it
I'm a 90s kid born in the 80s w infinite intent through it
I just kept pursuin

That real Hip hop in the midst of all the shit talk
Rap growin like a swift stalk, in fact
These tracks used to make a profit
Now it's just bomb shit free from bureaucracy

Yea we got it and we off to sea - in the west from east
Full spectrum complete - with no duels in the streets
We bringin Higher Infinite Power Back to the Peeps
Healing over police - that's what's Decent.

Chorus:

Emceein, Deejayin, Beatboxin, & Breakin.... Graffiti in the makin' (x4)
